The Wall

I know you were thinking about “The Wall” from Game of Thrones or “The Border Wall” but no that’s not what I was talking about at all.

Picture this…I had just got done doing isolated curls… I was bent over— gasping for breath… Vomit all over the ground…

My football coach Randy Cornwell yelling at me… “ONE MORE REP!”

Fellow toastmasters and honored guests, I had hit a wall… I pushed my body to the max.

Has anyone in here hit a wall in anything in your life? (raise hand)

Sure, we all have hit a wall at some point… it could be here in toastmasters, financial, or maybe even fitness.

My football coach Randy taught us that hitting the wall is a natural part of progress.

“Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success.” – Robert T. Kiyosaki

But when you quit… you’re quitting on yourself yes but you’re letting down people around you whose lives could have been blessed with your success or at least inspired by it.

To me Randy was a mentor that lead by example so well I had no choice but to follow his program… I developed a workout habit and have never stopped working out in 12 years.

But most importantly Randy Cornwell helped me develop a habit of breaking through walls.

We all need a mentor like Randy Cornwell… But they need to be the right kind of mentor,

One that leads by example, that you trust, motivates, and inspires you.

If you feel like you have hit a wall, I would recommend you finding a mentor in that area.

Kevin Etheridge pushed me to break a wall right now with this speech— you might even say he pushed me so hard I went right through the wall…

Think of what you are trying to accomplish right now. Is it a successful business? Is it being a profound speaker? Getting in shape?

What is stopping you? Break through that wall.

Ladies and Gentlemen, when you hit a wall… that means you are one step closer to reaching that goal. It’s right on the other side of that wall.

Break through the wall. ‘If you’re going to fail, fail hard, fail well’ – Richard Branson

So hit those walls hard and don’t stop until you break through the wall and fulfill your potential.

And when you need help pushing the wall down… hire a coach like Randy Cornwell.
